Umpqua Community College is proud to announce Steve Williams as the new Head Coach of the RiverHawks Softball program. Williams brings more than two decades of coaching experience at the high school and club levels, along with a deep commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
"We are excited to announce that Coach Williams has decided to take the helm of our softball program and steer us toward the future," said UCC Director of Athletics Craig Jackson. "Steve is knowledgeable, loyal, and cares about the players and the program. We are looking forward to seeing the RiverHawks during the 2025–26 season."
After serving as an assistant coach with UCC last season, Williams steps into the head coaching role with a clear vision: to carry forward the foundation established by Coach Jami Strinz and to honor her legacy by cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth.
A Roseburg native, Williams attended Roseburg High School and UCC before beginning his career with Douglas County Public Works. His coaching career includes leading highly successful high school programs as well as competing at the highest levels of club softball in the 16U and 18U divisions. In addition to his role at UCC, he oversees the PNW Shamrocks organization based in the Eugene/Roseburg area.
With the support of his staff, Coach Williams will emphasize player skill development, teamwork, and a strong competitive mindset as he leads the RiverHawks into the next chapter of the program's history.
