Two National Champions for the RiverHawks

The NJCAA Women's Wrestling Invitational in Council Bluffs was a historic weekend for the Umpqua Community College women's wrestling team, as the Riverhawks finished fourth in the national team standings while producing eight All-Americans, including two national champions and the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Umpqua scored 168 team points, finishing behind team champion Indian Hills Community College, runner-up Southeast Community College, and third-place Iowa Central Community College.

National Champions

Two Riverhawks stood atop the podium with national titles.

Kailey Salazar (110 lbs) claimed the championship with a dominant tournament run, finishing with a pin over Dixie Holliday of Murray State College in the finals. Salazar opened the season competing at 103 pounds before moving up to 110, where she ultimately captured the national title.

Bella Ngo (131 lbs) delivered one of the most impressive performances of the entire tournament, earning the championship with a 10–0 technical fall victory over Kaylea Beauchamp of Indian Hills Community College in the finals. For her dominant run through the bracket, Ngo was also named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler, recognizing her as the top performer of the event.

A Strong National Showing

The Riverhawks' eight All-Americans and two individual national titles highlight the continued rise of the Umpqua program on the national stage. Competing against the best junior college programs in the country, Umpqua demonstrated both depth and high-end talent, finishing among the nation's elite teams at the 2026 national championships.

The performance capped a memorable season for the Riverhawks and reinforced Umpqua Community College as one of the top programs in junior college women's wrestling.
