The Obstacle Course Racing team hosted a full 5k race with 25 obstacles on the UCC campus with just under 50 total racers. There was a fantastic turnout, which included members of the OCR team, cross country team, men's basketball team, and community members. It was a tough and muddy course, after rain came through the night before and moments leading up to the race. The course included 2 mud pits, bucket carry, tire flips, wall climbs, a hanging rig, and many more challenging obstacles!
Leading the way on the women's side was freshman Pamela Decko with a time of 42:32, followed by sophomores Kristen Thomas (42:33) and Genessa Eldredge (42:34). The trio pushed each other throughout the course and practically finished together to secure 1st-3rd place.
On the men's side, XC/TF Head Coach Alan King flew through the course with a time of 29:56. Not too far behind him was sophomore Tyler Lindsey (who competed for the OCR team the previous year) with a time of 30:43. Freshman Max Barnett rounded out the top three with a time of 33:33.
While top placers represented the OCR, XC, and Track & Field teams, other notable racers included the new college president, Dr. Rachel Pokrandt, and the men's basketball coach, Daniel Leeworthy. View results to see all racers, places, and times!
The Hawks will be hosting another race (Haunted Hawk Dash) on the campus on Saturday, October 23rd. This race will be costume-oriented as Halloween will be just around the corner! Until then, the Hawks will compete next at the OCR World Championships in Vermont next weekend, Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th.
