The RiverHawk Cross Country teams opened their 2025 campaign at the Ash Creek Festival hosted by Western Oregon University. The women competed in a 5k and finished 9th in the team standings. The men competed in a 6k distance, and finished 6th. 

The top finisher for the women's squad was Sanyana Felipe with a time of 19:55 to place 28th overall. Rounding out the top five were Jessica Easterly, Nallela Mather, Jamie Witt, and Malayna Chace. The women were short handed this weekend and will look to add more of their depth in the upcoming weeks. 

For the men, the trio of John Patterson (25th/19:50), Viggo Beck (28th/19:58), and Seth Rincon (36th/20:15) lead the way. All three were ahead of Umpqua's fastest 6k time since the program was reinstated in the fall of 2017. Rounding out the scoring five were Izak Hutchins and Vincent Romero. 

Up next for the RiverHawks will be the Mike Johnson Classic, hosted by Western Oregon University on Saturday, September 27.
