The Umpqua Community College Women's basketball Team opened up the Clackamas Community College tournament with a convincing 82-70 win over the Saints of Mt. Hood Community College.
The RiverHawks jumped to an early lead and led 18-12 at the end of the 1st quarter of play. The 2nd quarter was even and the RiverHawks went into the locker room with a 6 point lead, 44-38.
The 3rd period and early 4th, saw the RiverHawks stretch the lead to as many as 21 points as they led 70-49, before settling into the final score.
The RiverHawks were paced in scoring by sophomore Taylor Stricklin with 23 points, including five 3-pt. baskets. She was followed by Darian Mitchell with a double/double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Grace Campbell, who had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Fellow starters Cielo Gonzalez finished with 13 points and 4 steals, while Sienna Riggle collected 11 rebounds.
